“Above all, Bas-Reliefs marked the best partnership I have ever experienced throughout the creation of a demanding work. During the creative process, rehearsals and performances, I felt a great sense of deep connection, support and complicité with my dear friend and colleague, the late Dan Wild.” ~ M-J.C

Bas-Reliefs is a remarkable, complex multi-disciplinary collaboration inspired by the work of painter Betty Goodwin. Conceptualized by Marie-Josée Chartier, it combines the talents of eleven extraordinary artists, including choreographers Guillaume Bernardi and Ginette Laurin, filmmakers Jeremy Mimnagh and Peter Mettler, composers Gaétan Leboeuf and Alexandre MacSween with scenography and costumes by Julie Fox. Marie-Josée and Dan Wild, were the performers.

Bas-Reliefs reveals a space fraught with drama and contrasts as well as a universal inter-connectedness. It was co-produced and presented by Danse-Cité premiering in Montréal at Espace Libre and then presented at the Enwave Theatre, Harbourfront in Toronto.
